INDEPENDANCE OF THE SEAS

Sav has just returned from an interesting show, having been invited to perform onborad Royal Caribbean International’s Independence of the Seas maiden voyage. This is the largest cruise ship in the world. Sav is seen here with Steve Rider and Sir Steve Redgrave. (I know a lot of magicians working on ships read MagicWeek, so here's a link that includes a video clip: "Woman names largest cruise ship"

WHATS THE STORY?

So, one of my favourite tricks that I perform uses a matchbox.

I've performed it all over the world for various occasions including : Weddings, Corporate parties and even for Royalty. (Suffice to say its a corker of a trick; but will not spill the beans here!)

As a youngster I was a bit of a wannabe McGyver / A TEAM member I remember lighting (with supervision) my fair share of campfires at scouts thinking I was him (Thinking about it...I also burnt most of my action figures of the Late 70's / early 80's..... with no supervision) Agggh...My Star Wars collection would have been worth a fortune now...!!! Instead it is a melted glob of plastic buried in my mates back yard! (ho hum)

I digress...

So, I reckon that ENGLAND GLORY are the ROLLS ROYCE of all matches and have the best box by far, had great bits of trivia on the back; to boot they have a great smell when lit and always strike!

Anyhow I now I use them for one of my signature magic routines which fry peoples minds instead of Action Mans!

Top Notch!

60th Birthday PARTY

For tonight's booking I was working at London's prestigious Dorchester hotel. Again it was my job to dazzle the onlookers with dextrous displays of card handling and sleight of hand. The staff at the Dorchester are always really friendly and helpful so decided to give them a quick burst of magic too. Mr Birthday boy was delighted later on in the evening when Susie AKA Marylin Munroe (see photo) burst from a cake to sing Happy Birthday to yoooooou!!!

Shes looking good for her age!

Sage party magician

I was asked to entertain small groups after the main meal during the coffee and brandy period.
This late set my favourite set as the delegates were really replete and wanting to see something. The group ranged from far and wide States Florida / Atlanta to guys from the far east and South Africa. Truly a global company! As normal I did my thing which consisted of the standard medley of effects plus a few new ones which I have been working on of late. (To the whoops and joy of the crowd) One or two of the guys had seen a bit of magic before at prior corporate do's Eittienne's name popped up as normal and a few others which I have not heard. All in all an enjoyable event had the feel of a small house party.

Sage If you are reading this you were a good crowd! I trust I'll see you next year!

Noel Qualter birthday party

In Short, last night we headed into London to meet up to celebrate the birthday of Top magician Noel Qualter.

I arrived fashionably late at Matchbar Margret St, W1. To find Noel sat with a number London's leading magicians* Tom Rose, Andi Gladwin, Brenden Patricks, Benjamin Earl; later on and even more fashionably late arrived Dynamo. We sat around supped out drinks and Conversation revoled around magic and latest card tricks, that and the how efficient the cocktail waitress was!

We then moved on to a Pub off Oxford Street. Then onto Old Compton Street for last orders and a Pizza. However here's the best bit...

Sitting around we munched on our pizzas again talking shop, we hear some fella in an Italien accent in the background say 'I do a magic' for you!! Instantly all our ears prick up and simultaneously in a comedy double-take moment, all turn like mere cats to see the a flamboyant fella using his devious skills to chat up a table of ladies on the table next to us. (If you are a layman reading this you must know this is a dream moment for any magician let alone 6, Its like you have that extra hidden power to pull out of the bag if you want... you can bust his balls or play along...its great and seldom ever happens! (Like odds of 10,000 to one magic or 1,000,000 to one for the 6 of us)

Noel was particularly excited, We all gave each other that knowing look to say 'we need to see this fella' ... eventually we goaded the guy over to do his thing.

Admittedly he was rather good doing some nice Impromptu magic. It turned out his name was Skittzo and was rather famous in Italy. I thought it funny that he did not Recognise Superstar Dynamo, I jokingly said that he should get his manager on the case of his profile in Italy (-;

Needless to say we never let on that we were all magicians and we didn't bust his balls.

In all a good night out!

Big Al - magician

All present were in for a treat as Al demonstrated the close up / tabletop magic way of making coins disappear ( I hear you say so what my missus can do that) But this chap was truly the coin trick master! He showed the group a bunch of great slights and some of his trademark routines.

Coins across, Al's Vanish and coins and scarf routine which was in progress!!

Good lecture
